Ann Phillips, MSc, PhD, D. Ac, EPC
Ann
is a natural health practitioner whose approach to promoting
health and vitality is a fusion of Oriental Healing
and Energy Arts with Western Science, African and Indigenous
Knowledge. She integrates over 20 years experience in
health related theory and practice (BSc. Genetics, MSc.
Human and Medical Genetics, PhD Environmental Studies
focus on Women's Health and Community Health) with several
energy healing modalities-- Diploma in Acupuncture from
the Ontario Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine
reflexology certification from the Ontario College of
Reflexology and a second level instructors certificate
in Niei Chi (internal arts) from Classical Martial Arts
Centre. She has trained in acupuncture, moxibustion
and cupping therapy at the Fujian University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine and the Dong Fang Hospital of Beijing
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has
trained as a traditional Reiki Master in the Usui Tradition
and has been building up the internal energy (qi) necessary
to do energy work through training in kobudo, iaido,
jodo, and goju ryu karate.
Ann
is a strong advocate for equity, peace, social and environmental
justice. She has many years experience with women's
health and community-based environmental health promotion.
Ann received a CIDA professional award to work in Brazil
with Geledes, Instituto da Mulher Negra to develop health
workshops for women in low-income communities. She is
a past Chair of the board of Women's Health in Women's
Hands Community Health Centre.
Ann is a student of the four direction colours. She
is a woman of African, Taino indigenous and European
descent, whose practice includes Oriental Energy Arts.
She has been given the Indigenous Spirit name Rolling
Surf Dances with New Moon and the African Spirit name
Queen Omega. Her ancient ancestral clan is the Brown
Pelican clan. She believes in walking lightly on the
earth and as much as possible lives an eco-friendly
lifestyle. At the individual and community levels, Ann
works at boundaries where environments, energy and healing
intersect. She strives for harmony and balance in her
own life and works with others to promote healing, internal
and external balance and harmony in themselves and their
communities.
Ann is available:
Wednesdays 4-7pm, Thursdays 9-5 pm,
Fridays 10 am-6 pm, Saturdays 1-6 pm.
